The climate of Lanzarote has been described as that of perpetual spring or eternal summer. The south of the island is drier and hotter than the north, the latter being windier than the rest of Lanzarote. The differences, however, are not great. The south of the island may enjoy as much as 2,500 hours of sunshine annually, with temperatures varying from 18 to 24°C (64 to 75°F) in the summer and from 16 to 20°C (61 to 68°F) in the winter, although afternoon temperatures in both winter and summer can be considerably higher. Rainfall is generally light, with the wettest months being January and October. The trade winds from the north provide a very welcome breeze to the south of the Island. The weather makes Lanzarote an ideal all-year-round tourist destination.
